Service Integration and Management (SIAM) is a methodology used to manage multiple service providers and to integrate them seamlessly to provide a single business-facing IT organisation.

The SIAM™ Foundation course tests a candidate’s knowledge and understanding of the terminology and the core principles. This SIAM™ certification covers themes such as potential benefits as well as the challenges and risks of implementing Service Integration and Management.

What is Service Integration and Management (SIAM)? 

Service Integration and Management (SIAM) is a proven methodology for managing IT services delivered by multiple providers. When organisations work with several vendors, each with different contracts, processes, and ways of working, service delivery can become complex, time-consuming, and difficult to govern.

SIAM provides a structured approach to integrate and coordinate these providers into a single, business-facing IT organisation. It brings clear governance, management, assurance, and service coordination, helping you get maximum value from your service providers while reducing overhead, waste, and operational friction.

ITSM Hub deliver the EXIN SIAM certification program which is based on the SIAM bodies of knowledge, developed and maintained by Scopism, and positions you to operate effectively in a service integrator role. 

About the SIAM Foundation Course  

The SIAM™ Foundation course includes examples of implementation structures, governance, tooling and data considerations and the common processes used in a SIAM ecosystem. A candidate who successfully completes the SIAM™ Foundation knows how Service Integration and Management deliver business value and is able to contribute to the implementation and use of SIAM in an organisation. 

Service Integration and Management (SIAM) also has a synonym: multi-sourcing integration (MSI). Within the scope of this certification, only the term Service Integration and Management is used. 

Candidates should be able to demonstrate knowledge of the fundamental concepts of Service Integration and an understanding of bringing together multiple service providers to strive for a common goal, to support the client organisations’ agreed objectives for service delivery.  

What will I learn in this course?  

At the end of your SIAM Foundation course, candidates will have an understanding of the following: 

  • Understand the main concepts and processes of SIAM that are used in organisations  

  • Establish a SIAM ecosystem in order to better organise the organisation's resources  

  • Provide better support during a SIAM implementation by understanding the main considerations for the most important processes  

  • Reduce risks associated with Integrated Services and the SIAM ecosystem 

  • Connect different practices with SIAM to boost and improve the organisation’s service provision.  

  • Integrate services by using different structures based on SIAM practices and methodology 

  • Recognise the key stages of SIAM implementation in order to better plan its roll-out  

  • Determine SIAM roles and responsibilities in processes and the organisation  

  • Better select the most appropriate SIAM practices in line with the organisation’s environment and maturity.

Are there any prerequisites for this course?  

There are no specific prerequisites for entry to the examination; however, it is strongly recommended that candidates have good knowledge of IT Service Management terminology, for instance through a recognised IT Service Management framework. 

What are the exam requirements and pass mark?  

The EXIN SIAM™ Foundation exam tests a candidate’s knowledge and understanding of the terminology and the core principles of SIAM. This certification covers subjects including the potential benefits, challenges, and risks of implementing Service Integration and Management. 

To be awarded the SIAM Foundation certification, you must complete the examination: 

  • A 60-minute, 40-question, multiple-choice exam which is administered by the global examination body; EXIN. 

  • This is a closed book exam, with no notes or blank paper allowed. 

  • A passing mark of 65% (26/40) is required to receive your certificate.

Attending this course will prepare candidates for the examination leading to the SIAM Foundation Certificate. 

How is the exam conducted?  

If you attend a virtual classroom course with us, you will be provided an online exam voucher on the first day of your course. 

You’ll receive an email from EXIN with instructions on how to register and book your exam online. 

  • Scheduling: You can book your exam on the EXINwebsite, at a time that suits you. The schedule is available 24/7. 

  • Before the exam (online proctoring): A live proctor will confirm your identity (photo ID required) using your webcam. 

  • Duration: The online exam duration is 60 minutes; we recommend you allow an extra 30 minutes for setup and authentication. 

  • Requirements: A computer, webcam, speakers, a quiet private space, and a stable internet connection.  

  • Results: Preliminary results are usually availableimmediately after you finish. 

  • Voucher validity: Your exam voucher is valid for 12 months, but we recommend sitting the exam as soon as possible after the course while the content is fresh.

We provide more comprehensive information and guidance on the exam requirements in our learning portal. Your instructor will also provide information during your course. 

How is this course delivered?  

Virtual Classroom

Our publicly scheduled courses are delivered in our virtual classroom over 2-days. These courses are scheduled approx. twice per month, across multiple time zones. Our instructors are experts who are able to bring the ITIL concepts to life, providing real-world examples and relevance to your role. 

Self-Paced Online

This course will be available in our eLearning, self-paced online delivery method with access for 12-months. Please register your interest if you would like first access when this is available. 

Onsite or Private courses

Bring us onsite, our facilitator can come to you and we can deliver courses for your team at your premises. Private courses can also be conducted in our virtual classroom on dates and times that suit your teams. This is a great option if you have a remote or hybrid workforce.
